| Abstract | Slobodan Šijan created a book about the artist from the artist, generously using and mixing personal memories, narration, testimonies, and archival material. The abundance of visual material, as well as the exceptional graphic design, make the book, made with montage-collage logic, read like a film. Such an approach is a reconstruction of the interactions of Tom Gotovac with reality, film, and art, an artist who was at the same time a litmus test and a palimpsest of a rapidly changing time. The book, therefore, functions as a personal contextualization of the turbulent artistic period in Yugoslavia, including the "black wave" and New Tendencies in which Gotovac was an active participant. |
