Map Fest 2010
Makes the invisible visible

On 6, 8 and 9 July, Mediamatic organizes Map Fest. The event brings together kindred spirits to explore, create, define and oppose maps. Map Fest will be divided over three nights. Alternative maps and visualizations will offer you a different view on the world.

July 6 (starting 17.30!) Mapping for change
We start Map Fest with an evening on Mapping for change. This evening concerns the use of critical mapping in political and community-driven art, design and architectural projects. Joining us tonight are: Wietske Maas, Malkit Shoshan, Annelys de Vet, Christian Nold.

July 8 (20.30) Mapping for clarity
The second evening of Map Fest will concentrate on Mapping for clarity. This night is about making sense of data. Abstract sets of numbers are transformed into fluctuating graphs and beautiful visualizations. Joining us tonight are: Merijn Oudenampsen, Richard Rogers, De Geuzen, Catalogtree.

July 9 (20.30) Mapping Ignite
Ignite is a concept organized worldwide. The motto is: “Enlighten us, but make it quick”. The concept is simple: local professionals, artists and other creatives will give a short presentation of 5 minutes using 20 slides. Mediamatic represents Ignite in Amsterdam. Speakers are James Burke (VURB), Esther Polak, Jan Rothuizen, Sarah van Sonsbeeck and Theo Deutinger amongst others.
