Within the framework of four-day long program in Youth Center CK13, Novi Sad, “ENTER UK, British Social Influences in Serbia/Vojvodina/Novi Sad”, a series of cultural events, movie projections and public debates will be presented on the subject of influences of British culture in creation of social movements around phenomena of football and punk subculture in our country. The program will gather great number of artists, theoreticians, philosophers and sociologists from Serbia and Great Britain, who will try to give the answers to some of posed questions: In which way the identities of modern European multicultural societies have been formed? Do these identities represent everlasting categories or are they changeable? What is the meaning of subculture phenomena today? How British society has responded to those contemporary challenges and what is experience of Serbian society when it comes to this subject? Guests of the event will, together with the audience, focus on discussions about the meaning of multiculturalism today, anti-racism and anti-discrimination, football as a spectacle, creation of national identities, significance of subcultural phenomena, punk culture as social and political movement of rebellion against authorities and commercialization in general, about Fair-Play, etc.

(2003, Great Britain/Germany, 112', director: Gurinder Chadha), the movie “Band It Like Beckham”: about women in football, gender equality and challenges which contemporary multicultural societies are facing.

(2006, Great Britain, 120', director: Peter Day), This TV series shows the social history and subculture of football fans and hooliganism over the past 50 years in Great Britain.

15:00 – Screening: FUßBALL WIE NOCH NIE / SOCCER AS NEVER BEFORE
(1971, Germany, 105', director: Hellmut Costard), Documentary movie “Soccer as Never Before” represents unique portrait of George Best, legendary British football player, in Manchester United against Coventry City at Old Trafford in September, 1970. Six cameramen were instructed to follow each step of this player, creating a portrait of a man who was his own worst enemy.

(2007, Great Britain, 100', director: Shane Meadows), The movie “This is England” represents the major youth sub-cultures in English at the beginning of 1980s – Mods, New Romantics, Skinheads – a look back at the early eighties of British working-class life and it is dealing with the bitterness of outside influences such as racism, xenophobia and mass unemployment.

(2006, Serbia, director: Jovan Đerić), Documentary movie “Once Upon a Time...” represents punk-rock scene of Novi Sad, during the first half of 1990s. The "mission" of the documentary is to preserve the spirit that kept mentally alive thousands of young people who unfortunately lived their youth during one of the worst periods in history of this part of Europe - Milosevic's Serbia.
