Marcell Mars is web programmer and the member of mi2, Multimedia Institute from Zagreb, where he's running whole production of the media lab and especially projects connected to Free and Open Source Software, like TamTam software and egoboo.bits free content publishing project.

Marcell Mars, Zagreb
Summary: 

Marcell Mars presented the festival “Freedom To Creativity” that took place in Zagreb in January 2005 and the Croatian translation of Lawrence Lessig book “Code and Other Laws of Cyberspace”, as well as implementation of Creative Commons licence in Croatia. Croatian system of Creative Commons licencing was set in motion within the festival “Freedom To Creativity”, and the introductory speech was held by the leader of the global movement for free creativity, professor of law at the Stanford University, Lawrence Lessig. Last year Creative Commons won the award at the Ars Electronica festival, and lately under Creative Commons licences performers like David Byrne, Beastie Boys, Thievery Corporation, Le Tigre and close collaborate of Creative Commons, minister of culture in Brasil and big music star Gilberto Gil published their work.

After the lecture, DJs from the Zagreb based EGOBOO.bits label performed their music. EGOBOO.bits (http://www.egoboobits.net ) is a publishing project and production collective started by the creators of electronic music at the Multimedia Institute in 2001. Common factor of EGOBOO.bitsa is GNU GPL that permits copying, distribution and modification published works under the condition to keep the original or modified work publicly accessible under the same terms.
